Two Step Word Problems

C'mon, you know you love them... word problems, that is.  Especially two step word problems... you love them as much as the kids do!!

Well, my second graders have been working on them this week and we've been adding to our math notebooks...

This is what we write in our math notebooks.  (SN: my summer goal is to make everything we've put into our math notebooks in one place...and have it ready to go! This was the first year we've done math notebooks...)

I really like the part, part, whole models to help solve word problems.  I'm a very visual learner, and I wish I'd had this when I was learning how to rip apart word problems.  It would have saved me lots of fingernails...

Check back to see how we do more with our two step problems next week!

Hello Haley, it's me, your followers...Are you there?

Yes, I'm still here.  Buried under the piles this Pile Queen has unwillingly buried herself under. When I sat down to write this, I instantly thought of this book.

No blasphemy intended, but I didn't think that Chelsea Handler's version of the same title would be as appropriate....google it if you haven't seen it. :)

So, where have I been?  Report cards, conferences, Math night, and other various duties I am contractually obligated to attend.  It's been a busy few weeks but there is some light shining at the end of the tunnel...and it's called Spring Break...let the countdown begin!

Here's a picture of my long promised Boggle Board that I know you've been waiting on millions of pins and needles waiting to see ;)

I keep all the boggle papers and cards in the plastic bag behind the board.  You can see it peeking out in the picture.  Feel free to pin it if you like!

Speaking of Pinterest, I put my "Permission to Pin" sign on my blog, and if you feel the same, post that bad boy!  Several other bloggers have done it and I'm "pin" pressuring you to do the same :)

Freebie! Freebie! (well, see details below...)

Since you've read all the way to the end of my post, the first three people to comment WITH an email address gets my newly created March Themed Two-Step Word Problems.  This is on TPT and TN for $1.50 and I think (if I do say so myself....) they are pretty good.  My kiddos like doing these problems each month.  Let me know if you like these!

Well hopefully I've appeased you all for my absence.  Can't believe it's a week into March and this is the first post I've done!  And, I've also been given some very lovely awards by some extremely lovely people.  I'll acknowledge them in my next post :)
