Welcome to Ancient China....

One of my favorite Social Studies units has come... Ancient China!  You're thinking:  Seriously?  7 and 8 year old kiddos learning about ANCIENT CHINA?  Yup.  It's not too in depth, but it is different.  Love, love, love teaching this unit because it is just so much fun!  Did I say I love teaching this?  The kiddos love learning about this ancient culture, especially writing in Chinese.  Today we made red Chinese lanterns to decorate our classroom.  They look awesome...not to mention the fact that 2nd graders had to follow 3 to 4 step directions ORALLY to get them made.  WOW!  I can count on one finger the times that's happened this year.

Does anyone else teach this or other ancient cultures?  We also learn about First Americans (Powhatan, Lakota, and Pueblo) and Ancient Egypt.

Here are our lanterns.  Excuse the messy counter, but by Thursdays.... ya know.

How do you send home papers?  How often?  Do you send home weekly behavior reports?  We have Friday Folders, and all papers, memos, and my weekly behavior sheet go home.  Makes for a hectic Friday afternoon...  just curious :)
