I feel the world would be a better place everyone was a waiter or waitress for a while and a teacher (even if it was just for an hour).

Jessica

Apples and PapersJessicahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14462263404774957943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4385278379959792428.post-77950909731599298602012-01-28T10:07:23.156-05:002012-01-28T10:07:23.156-05:00Thank you for posting this article. When I taught...Thank you for posting this article. When I taught third grade it would always make me mad when our grade would have a child that failed the S.O.L. tests. Yes, they might have failed, but if they moved into our disrict not knowing all of their letters, let alone able to read many words, and we got them from that to a score of a 380, why isn't there anything to show THAT growth? Nope. Its just they failed. Yeesh.

Okay, I'm going to climb down off my soap box now!
-Megan

First Grade MagicMrs. Nunleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06913946045048488487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4385278379959792428.post-68347707517287593892012-01-28T06:31:11.692-05:002012-01-28T06:31:11.692-05:00I wish it were possible to get the outsiders to st...I wish it were possible to get the outsiders to stop with the foolish talk and be able to see what we do. Sadly before anyone volunteers to help they run their mouths or hid behind their keyboards. It's really sad. I don't want fanfare and parades, but I'd certainly welcome volunteers to stop by and help file, run a center or scrape that kid off the ceiling, please. Oh well we must continue on.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4385278379959792428.post-42142950972693751912012-01-27T19:46:20.235-05:002012-01-27T19:46:20.235-05:00Thanks for sharing! I just posted this on my face...Thanks for sharing! I just posted this on my facebook too! I feel the same way, don't even get me started! On one of our PD days recently we went over accomodation and modifications we have to do for our IEP kids. Then they were like, BUT they still have to take the state test (with some accomodations, but still). I really liked the end of that article...such a good point!

On another note, the school I taught at 2 years ago ended up being "restructured" because of failure to meet AYP...meaning, everyone had to reapply for their jobs if they wanted to stay at that school. Needless to say, I did not apply and went on my merry little way to a different school! Hope that doesn't happen for you!

Bonnie
Living A Wonderful Life

P.S.
